I take a personalized, mind-body approach that addresses nutrition and lifestyle habits. Taking a holistic approach that integrates physical, mental, and emotional dynamics allows us to go deeper and uncover the root causes of your health and eating habits. We can then work in partnership to find individualized solutions so you can feel good and have a more joyous life.
While my 30+ year career in public health has spanned various areas (nutrition, reproductive health, environmental health, work-site wellness), the greatest focus was maternal and child health.
I spent many years developing programs to support moms with breastfeeding, healthy bonding, and parenting. Now I’m focused on supporting women to heal their relationship with food, which often stems from early childhood experiences.
Early life experiences create our habits, mindset, and patterns. This programming plays an important role in health and well-being, including risk for developing chronic diseases.
I have a Master's degree in Public Health and am a Certified Health Coach through the Institute for Integrative Nutrition. I also have additional training in Functional Nutrition and am a Certified Lactation Educator.
My coaching is unique because I address both the biochemical dynamics, such as what you eat, how you eat it, gut health, hormonal balance, stress chemistry, and lab results, as well as the emotional and mindset factors that contribute to wellness.
I decided to shift my career to wellness coaching because I wanted to return to my original passion of being an educator and counselor rather than a manager.
This led me to enroll in the Institute for Integrative Nutrition Health Coach Training program in 2012. In fact, this training changed my life not only by taking my career in a different direction, but also by transforming my own health.
Through the training, I was able to connect the dots between various symptoms that I had been experiencing for years. Eating tons of sugar as a child and taking antibiotics for various conditions resulted in an imbalance in my gut (candida or yeast overgrowth).
Being someone who believes in practicing what I preach, I broke up with sugar and refined carbs on January 1, 2013. This change, which I’ve maintained ever since, resulted in more energy, more stable blood sugar, no more brain fog, better moods, softer skin, improved digestion, and weight loss.
That’s why I’m now so passionate about supporting other people to eat clean.
It breaks my heart to see people struggle with cravings, weight, emotional eating, stress, guilt, shame, and feeling not good enough.
While part of my approach is about clarifying the confusing and often contradictory information about nutrition that’s out there, the deeper work I do with clients is related to supporting them to love and accept themselves more fully. This is what allows them to establish healthier habits, prioritize self-care, and develop a healthier relationship with food.
My approach and strategies include EFT (Emotional Freedom Techniques)/Tapping, mindful eating, gratitude and other positive psychology practices, detoxing from sugar, meal planning, and other lifestyle changes that include eating real, whole food instead of dieting.
I create a safe, supportive space that will allow you to be reflective about your goals and what’s been holding you back.
I will support you in eating more mindfully, releasing stress, prioritizing self-care, achieving more balance, and most importantly, loving and accepting yourself more fully.
